Day 5 is a day we won’t soon forget. We finally made it to Samuel’s favorite zoo–The San Diego Zoo. And we soon learned that it truly lives up to its reputation of being one of the most famous zoos in the world.
But before we could head to the zoo, Callie (our aussie/shepherd mix dog) had her own adventure today. She spent the day at Puptown. Because we would be at the zoo all day we needed a safe place for her to go. I think she had a great time and this was a good experience for her. All of you that know her, know how shy and anxious she is about new people, places and even other animals. So this trip is going to be really good for her by getting her exposed to lots of different people, places, experiences and other animals. Then it was on to the zoo for us.Not only did we get to experience the San Diego Zoo with all its unique animals and creative exhibits we got an incredible opportunity to see behind the scenes in the elephant exhibit and the giant panda Bia Yun and her 7 month old cub Xiao Liwu. A huge thank you to Jon’s uncle Ed. Thank you Uncle Ed for your time and the unique experience. The baby panda sleeping in a corner of the exhibit while mom was having lunch. I won’t bore you with the hundred or so pictures we took today but I hope in the next few days to post a few of Samuel’s sketches of the new animals he met today.
